This course will enable students to understand the different aspects of ‘heritage’ and ‘heritage tourism’. Students will learn about how heritage is ‘constructed’ as a social process and its different manifestations. Heritage issues such as heritage-sation, colonialism, community participation and utilization will be introduced, as well as their relationship with contemporary tourism. The course will also introduce several case studies each class to provide students will clear examples of the subjects discussed.

Students will be evaluated in terms of their attendance, written reports and oral examinations.
